We're excited to announce the availability of the Kanzi Package Manager, a powerful new tool that revolutionizes how you manage dependencies in your Kanzi projects. The Package Manager is now available for Kanzi 3.9.11 and newer versions, bringing enterprise-grade dependency management directly to your development workflow.
The Package Manager is your central hub for managing all project dependencies in Kanzi. It provides a unified interface to install, update, and remove essential components for your development projects, including:
Kanzi Engine plugins, libraries, and headers - Extend your engine capabilities with additional functionality
Kanzi Studio plugins - Enhance your development environment with specialized tools
Asset packages - Access pre-built UI components and visual assets to accelerate development
Built on the robust Conan package management system, the Package Manager ensures reliable dependency resolution and seamless integration with your existing Kanzi workflow.
Simplified Workflow: No more manual downloading and configuring of dependencies. The Package Manager handles installation and integration automatically according to package type.
Centralized Management: Access all your project dependencies from a single location within Kanzi Studio through the dedicated Package Manager menu.
Enterprise Integration: Connect to remote repositories using your JFrog platform credentials, enabling teams to share and distribute custom packages across organizations.
Automatic Dependency Resolution: The Package Manager intelligently manages package dependencies, ensuring compatibility and reducing configuration conflicts.
To start using the Package Manager:
Download and Install: Get the Package Manager installer from Kanzi Hub using your Kanzi Account credentials
Configure Dependencies: The installer will guide you through setting up Conan 2.10.0 if needed
Authenticate: Log in using your JFrog platform credentials provided by Rightware
Start Managing: Access the Package Manager through Package Manager > Open Package Manager in Kanzi Studio
Once installed, adding packages to your project is as simple as selecting the desired package and clicking the install button. The Package Manager automatically handles the integration based on the package type.
The Package Manager supports multiple repository sources, allowing you to:
Connect to Rightware's official package repositories
Add custom remote repositories for team-specific packages
Manage repository credentials securely within the tool
As with any new feature, there are some current limitations to be aware of:
Code Behind feature is not currently supported with Conan-based project templates
Some platform-specific packages may be listed but not usable from Kanzi Studio
Java packages and Android template Java plugins require manual configuration
Android deployment from Kanzi Studio may require manual Gradle CLI or Android Studio builds when using Package Manager templates
We're actively working to address these limitations in future releases.
The Package Manager represents our commitment to improving the developer experience and streamlining project setup. This foundation will enable us to expand the ecosystem of available packages and enhance integration capabilities in upcoming releases.
